Senior Manager/Supervisor
Summary:
We seek a dynamic Technical Manufacturing Manager to lead production in our state-of-the-art supplemental botanical tea production facility. This role merges traditional operations and maintenance management with Industry 4.0 methodologies, leveraging robotics, automation, and data-driven decision-making to optimize efficiency and quality. The ideal candidate will oversee production staff, manage technical systems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a digitally connected environment.

Essential Functions

Supervision of Staff
  • Lead and mentor production, maintenance, and automation teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Manage scheduling, performance management, and training to ensure staff is proficient in digital tools and smart manufacturing processes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and accountability while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance adherence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals, including quality assurance, R&D, and supply chain.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and gaps to meet or exceed industry best practices.

Supervisory/Budget Requirements
  • Manage departmental budgets, including labor, maintenance, and capital expenditures, to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Operationalize automation systems, robotics, AGVs, and other smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Develop and track key performance metrics (KPIs) to drive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP, OSHA, etc.) and corporate sustainability initiatives.

Requirements
Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or botanical supplement industries.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Proven track record of leading operational transformations and implementing digital manufacturing solutions.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Expertise in smart factory technologies, digital twins, IoT, and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Ability to interpret and act on real-time production data and analytics to drive efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (GMP, FDA, HACCP, etc.).

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with robotics integration (AGVs, cobots) and automated packaging systems.
  • Experience with sensor-based monitoring, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and cloud-based data analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial networking protocols.

Travel:
  • Extensive travel to the corporate office in California will be required in the first few months for training purposes

  • This position is based in Rocky Mount, VA and is onsite Monday through Friday supporting a three-shift operation.
  • Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.
