This role involves overseeing, maintaining, and optimizing automated systems, as well as providing leadership and technical support to the team. This role involves overseeing, maintaining, and optimizing automated systems, as well as providing leadership and technical support to the team. The Automation Engineering Technician is responsible for upholding safety standards, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the operation of automation equipment to maintain consistent production levels, reduce downtime, and ensure product quality.
- Maintain equipment, maintenance schedules and repairs to prevent or to promptly address equipment breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance tasks, and any required repairs.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new automation systems, ensuring proper calibration and functionality
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards to maintain a safe work environment. Participate in safety teams.
- Utilize the CMMS, Quality software, ERP and other programs or software to optimize production.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in automation, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of automation equipment.
- Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and basic understanding of automation controls is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills, supporting an interactive team culture.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Extensive travel to the corporate office in California will be required in the first few months for training purposes

- This position is based in Rocky Mount, VA and is onsite Monday through Friday supporting a three-shift operation.
- Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.
- Starting at $36.00 an hour
