QC Lab Intern (temporary)

SUMMARY
The primary function of the temporary Lab Intern is to support different functional areas of the QC lab.  Specific duties will depend on experience but will include a combination of the following. 

FUNCTIONS
  • Perform benchtop analyses on incoming herbs, such as moisture, ash, volatile oil distillations, and particle size analysis
  • Support microbiology lab with preparation, autoclaving, and cleanup
  • Sample incoming ingredients and packaging from the warehouse
  • Assist with maintaining lab cleanliness
  • Other organizational tasks or projects as needed such as filing, scanning, and data entry

REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience
  • Preferred one year lab experience, either educational or industry
  • Prior education or experience to perform a significant number of the above functions

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
  • Basic laboratory skills – use of balances, volumetric glassware, pipets
  • Solid math skills to unerringly perform basic calculations and unit conversions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment:
  • Works primarily in the Quality Control laboratory with hazardous chemicals present, requiring competence and familiarity with safe handling and storage of acids, bases and solvents. Closed-toe shoes required. Lab coat is provided and required while working.
  • Occasional work in the warehouse to sample ingredients and packaging components.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • This position is based in Sebastopol, CA;  office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 5:00 pm. This is an on-site role. This temporary role will include roughly 15-25 hours per week.
  • Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.

Compensation for this position is $20 per hour.
