SUMMARY:
This position supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workplace health, safety, and environmental programs, to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. The successful candidate will be a self-starting individual who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensure company compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, DOT, local/state requirements)
• Support the safety management system, including policies, procedures, work instructions and forms creation, maintenance.
• Conduct routine safety inspections/audits and identify hazards and track corrective actions.
• Perform job hazard analyses (JHA) and risk assessments.
• Assist or lead incident investigations, determine root cause, implement corrective/preventative actions
• Support workers’ compensation and injury case management
• Develop and deliver safety training
• Support emergency preparedness including drills, spill response, fire prevention, evacuation plans
• Participate and/or lead safety committee activities
• Support contractor or third-party project safety review activities.
• Assist with environmental compliance activities (hazardous waste, chemical storage, spill prevention)
• Stop unsafe or dangerous work when necessary and coach supervisors/managers and employees on safe behaviors and expectations
• Partner with other departments to implement engineering controls, hazard correction, or process improvement.
• Understand basic ergonomics to recognize and address hazards.
• Coordinate safety shoe program.
• Be a resource for supervisor and managers regarding health and safety of employees
• Other duties as assigned to support safety, compliance, and continuous improvement


REQUIREMENTS:

Experience/Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in safety, environmental, health, and employee training within a manufacturing environment.
• Possess a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety.
• Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations, including OSHA requirements.
• Proven work experience with incident investigation, job hazard analysis creation and implementation, facility inspections, hazard communication, lockout/tagout and powered industrial trucks.
• Proven experience with training of adults at all levels of organization.
• Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification required.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.

• Ability to lead, influence, and communicate clearly and concisely with employees, leadership, and external stakeholders at all levels, in both written and verbal formats; bilingual English/Spanish communication skills to support workforce engagement.
• Effectively represents the organization in interactions with inspectors, auditors, regulatory agencies, vendors, and certifying bodies, ensuring professionalism and regulatory compliance.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Management of safety committee meetings and engaging employees in the safety process and initiatives.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to analyze data, develop reports, manage schedules, and present EHS performance metrics to leadership.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the scope of responsibility while escalating risks appropriately and recommending corrective actions.
• Proven ability to work calmly under pressure, assess risk, and make sound, timely decisions in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Proven ability to train on a diverse range of topics to a diverse group of people (leaders to production personnel), particularly related to health and safety
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop teams by setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Comfortable managing change and adapting programs, priorities, and resources to meet evolving business and regulatory needs.
• Strong listening skills and attention to detail, with the ability to assess employee concerns and translate feedback into actionable improvements.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional leadership teams.
• Willingness to provide leadership during urgent or emergency situations and to actively participate in company, team, and community-building initiatives.
• Schedule flexibility required to support operational needs, including changing priorities, off-shift work, and emergency response coverage.
Travel Requirements (if any):
Travel is within Sonoma County between offices and/or warehouses. Occasional travel to our Virginia location may be requested.

Office Hours/Location:
• This position is based in our Sebastopol location. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 5:00 pm. Hours may be flexible based on need and preference – three shift operation with occasional Saturdays.
• Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.
• This position is based in Sebastopol, CA. This is an onsite role and job duties are performed onsite.

• Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment working near and around equipment and machinery.
• Wear personal protective equipment as necessary.

Compensation range is: $74,500 - $97,600

Compensation is determined based on non-discriminatory, business-related factors, including but not limited to, training, experience, education and/or professional certifications, geographic location, and market data.
